![]() Emma [Emaline] Reese b. 10 March 1844 d. 09 February 1922 Emma was born at Ten Mile Bottom, Cranberry Twp. and was a descendant of Jacob Reese a Venango county Pioneer. Emma married Augustus Glass on 10 January 1867 which was not long after Augustus was mustered out of the Union army. They were married by "Squire Boils off Oil City" - L.M. Boyd, J.P. of Venango City (South Side, Oil City, PA) Emma was a farm girl and the family was neighbors to the Andrew and Elizabeth Glas family, German immigrants. The couple had five children: Hattie, James, Jacob, William and Robert. All of the children refered to Emma as 'Mother Glass.' Emma could not read or write so Hattie took over the family affairs. The old soldier, Emma's husband, had a stroke about nine months before he died and was bed ridden. Emma herself died at Coal Hill at age 77. They are buried at Heckathorn cemetary. |
